About The Weeknd
The Weeknd is the Toronto-born alternative R&B singer Abel Tesfaye, whose dark, synth-heavy pop draws on 80s new wave and electronic production as much as on soul. He first surfaced in 2010 with anonymous YouTube uploads that became the House of Balloons mixtape, and later topped the charts worldwide with "Blinding Lights" from After Hours (2020), then headlined the Super Bowl LV halftime show in 2021. Live, his stadium shows are built as staged productions around his albums, with large-scale visuals and theatrical set design.
