About Harakiri for the Sky
Harakiri for the Sky are a Viennese two-piece who build long-form black metal tracks around melodic guitar leads and raw, shouted vocals — closer in spirit to Deafheaven or Alcest than to anything purely Scandinavian. Their 2021 album Maere runs over an hour and charted the project's shift toward denser, more layered arrangements while keeping the confessional lyrical tone that defines their catalogue. Live, the duo typically expand to a full band to fill out the wall-of-sound their records suggest.
