About Guthrie Govan Trio

Guthrie Govan is a British guitarist whose playing draws on jazz fusion, progressive rock, and blues — technically precise but rarely cold, with a habit of making difficult passages sound almost conversational. His 2012 solo album Erotic Cakes became a reference point in guitar circles, and he has spent much of the past decade as part of The Aristocrats alongside bassist Bryan Beller and drummer Marco Minnemann. Live, the improvisational side of his playing comes through clearly — the recorded versions are essentially sketches compared to what tends to happen on stage.
