Dave Weckl

Dave Weckl is a St. Louis-born drummer whose playing sits in the jazz fusion and jazz-funk tradition, with a technical precision that has made him a reference point for drummers. He has been working professionally since he was 16, and he built his name on the New York session and touring circuit before leading his own bands. For anyone who follows drumming closely, a Weckl show is a chance to watch that technique up close in a small-group setting where the drum kit is part of the melody rather than just the backbeat.
