Boris

Boris (ボリス) are a Tokyo trio who have spent three decades warping the edges of heavy music, moving freely between crushing drone metal, sludge, noise rock, and passages of near-ambient quiet that owe as much to shoegaze as to doom. Named after a Melvins track, they have released well over 30 albums since 1992, with records ranging from the sheer-volume assault of Amplifier Worship to the cleaner, pop-adjacent Pink. Live, all three members rotate instruments and vocals, and the band is known for building sets around sustained, physical sound rather than a conventional song-by-song setlist — worth knowing if you're standing near the speakers.
