คาราบาว
About the Artist
คาราบาว (Carabao) are a Thai rock band formed in 1981 by Yuenyong Opakul and Kirati Promsaka Na Sakon Nakhon, who met as students in the Philippines — their name is Tagalog for "buffalo," and their sound pulls together phleng phuea chiwit roots-rock, luk thung, and southern Thai folk into something distinctly working-class and political. Over four decades they've built one of the most loyal audiences in Thai popular music, a catalogue that doubles as a soundtrack to modern Thai social history. Few bands at this scale still carry the same ideological weight in their songwriting, which makes their live sets feel more like communal gatherings than straightforward concerts.
