About Yussef Dayes
Yussef Dayes is a South London drummer whose playing blends jazz fusion, funk, and soul with the loose, groove-heavy feel of the city's 2010s jazz scene. He first drew attention with the band United Vibrations, then with Kamaal Williams as Yussef Kamaal, whose 2016 album Black Focus became a touchstone of the London jazz revival. Billed as The Yussef Dayes Experience, his live band puts his drumming front and centre, so expect long, improvised stretches rather than a tight run through the records.
