About Suchmos
Suchmos is a six-piece Japanese band, formed in 2013, that blends acid jazz, city pop, and R&B grooves with rock instrumentation, fronted by vocalist YONCE and rounded out by a DJ and keyboardist alongside the usual guitar, bass, and drums. Their name is a riff on Louis Armstrong's nickname "Satchmo," a nod to the jazz and hip-hop influences that shape their sound. The DJ and keyboard lineup gives their live show a groove-first feel that sits closer to a funk and soul band than a typical J-rock outfit.
