Grandbrothers

Grandbrothers is a Düsseldorf duo, Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel, who make neoclassical electronic music entirely from a grand piano. Vogel, who builds synthesizers by day, designed a system of electromagnetic hammers that strikes the strings and lets the piano double as a drum machine, with no synthetic sound sources involved. Their first single, "Ezra Was Right", was championed by Gilles Peterson and voted #7 in his 2013 listener poll, and a 2014 EP on FILM sold out its first run within ten days.
