About Free the Robots
Free the Robots is the project of Chris Alfaro, a producer based in Santa Ana, California, who blends trip hop, nu jazz and electro swing with dusty samples, analog and digital synths, and live instruments. Alfaro started it in 2003 as a side project while he was playing in bands, producing MCs and DJing full time, and he came up as part of the LA beat scene. His tracks lean on heavy, gritty drums under jazzy melodies, so expect a set that moves between head-nodding downtempo and more psychedelic, left-field territory.
