Tangerine Dream

Tangerine Dream are a German electronic group founded in Berlin in 1967, whose decades of work across krautrock, ambient, and space music helped define what synthesizer-driven composition could sound like before most of those genre labels even existed. The mid-1970s lineup of Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke, and Peter Baumann produced some of their most influential records, and the band later built a parallel reputation through film soundtrack work in the 1980s. They continue to perform and record following Froese's death in 2015, so catching them now means hearing a long-running project in active evolution rather than a nostalgia run.
