Nubya Garcia

Nubya Garcia is a London-born saxophonist and composer whose sound draws on jazz funk, jazz fusion, and the wave of nu jazz that emerged from the UK capital's live scene in the late 2010s. Her 2020 debut album Source was widely credited as one of the defining records of that movement, weaving Caribbean and West African rhythmic influences into her tenor saxophone-led compositions. Live, she typically performs with a tight rhythm section that gives the recorded material considerably more weight and groove than the studio versions suggest.
