Mutation

Mutation is a UK mathcore side project led by Ginger Wildheart of The Wildhearts, drawing in collaborators from Black Halos, Sisters of Mercy, and Pulled Apart By Horses for a dense, abrasive sound that sits well outside his main band's melodic hard rock. Their debut double album The Frankenstein Effect, recorded in 2011 and crowd-funded through Pledgemusic, came out in late 2012. With under 1,400 Spotify followers, this is a niche live proposition — worth it if you're already deep into mathcore or curious about Wildheart's more extreme side.
