About the Artist
Howie Lee (李化迪) is a Beijing-born producer, now based in London, who makes experimental bass and electronic music that pulls from both Chinese and Western sources, drifting between ambient, abstract hip-hop and club-leaning textures. He co-founded the Do Hits club night in 2011, which grew into an independent label for Chinese electronic producers including Jason Hou, Zaliva-D and Guzz, and his own catalogue includes Mù Chè Shān Chū (2015), the "Socialism Core Value" trilogy (2017–2019) and Tiān Dì Bù Rén (2019). For anyone curious about where China's underground electronic scene has gone over the last decade, his set is a direct line into it.
