David Byrne

David Byrne is a Scottish-born, New York-based singer-songwriter whose work runs from the jittery new wave of Talking Heads to a solo catalogue of art rock and art pop that pulls in Latin, African and orchestral influences. As Talking Heads' principal songwriter from 1975 to 1991, he helped define American new wave, and he has since collected Grammy, Oscar and Golden Globe awards and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. His recent tours have been built as staged productions, with a barefoot, mobile band and choreography that treats the concert as theatre rather than a standard rock set.
