DJ Krush

DJ Krush is a Tokyo turntablist and producer whose instrumental hip-hop drifts into trip hop, downtempo, and acid jazz, built on dusty breaks and slow, atmospheric layers. He started out in the late-80s Japanese hip-hop scene with the group Krush Posse, went solo in the early 90s, and released his debut album Krush in January 1994. Having pioneered the use of turntables as a live instrument, he is known for improvised sessions alongside live musicians, so a show is likely to feel closer to a jam than a conventional DJ set.
